Patriots got on the board first with a pitch play to Jalen Rambert. Walhalla stopped the conversion attempt, and Powdersville led 6-0.  Before the quarter was over, Walhalla added a touchdown and a successful conversion to overtake the lead 8-6 and end the first quarter. The Razorbacks extended their lead with nine seconds remaining in the half with a 25-yard touchdown pass.  Patriots’ sacked Walhalla’s quarterback on the conversion attempt, and Walhalla went into halftime leading 14-6.

Patriots opened the second half with a kickoff which Walhalla returned to mid-field. Patriots’ defensive back Thomas Drayton literally lifted the runner into the air to stop the play.  Patriot defense recovered a fumble three minutes later that gave Powdersville the ball.  Ashyr Hamblen finished the possession with a five-yard run into the end zone.  Quarterback Clay Davis passed to Noah Smith to claim two points on the conversion and tie the game 14-14. With :35 remaining in the third quarter, Harry Gentile leaped into the air in the corner of the end zone and pulled down a TD pass from Davis. Davis rushed the conversion play over the line, and Patriots finished the third period leading 22-14.

With 2:20 remaining in the game, Rambert finished a final Patriot drive with a three-yard run into the end zone.  Walhalla stopped the conversion play, and Patriots extended their lead to 28-14.  On Walhalla’s last series, Patriot defense sacked the quarterback twice, then took down a receiver before he could make a first down on the final play of the game.

With the win, Patriots’ record improves to 4-0. Powdersville Middle travels to Pickens Thursday, October 5, at 5:30 pm, for their next game. Keep up the winning streak going, Patriots! #OneTeamOneDream #GoPatriots!
