Congratulations to Powdersville Varsity Boys Soccer on finishing their season in a tough second-round playoff match. Patriots fell 3-0 at Seneca on Thursday, May 3, 2018.
Patriots held Seneca to one goal in the first half. The Bulldogs returned from the break determined to extend their lead and scored again within the first minute of the second period. Powdersville took several shots, but Seneca pushed the gap to 3-0 with 27 minutes remaining in the game.
“We were fortunate to have a strong group of seniors this year,” commented Head Boys Soccer Coach Charlie Pike. “Much of our success was a direct result of their leadership. We all hoped to advance further in the playoffs. Our team as a whole gained a great deal of experience along the way.”
Powdersville finished the season with a 14-10-1 overall record, a 7-3 region record, four shut-outs, and a playoff victory. All four teams from Region II-AAA advanced to the second round of playoffs. For Powdersville to finish second among this group (behind defending state champion Berea), speaks volumes about the skills of our Patriots. Great work, gentlemen! Best wishes to our seniors in their future endeavors and thanks for their contributions to Powdersville’s Boys Soccer over the past four years. Good luck to our returners as they continue with club soccer and other activities over the summer. We’ll look forward to seeing you again next year! #OneTeamOneDream! #Go Patriots!!
