What a Thriller! Congratulations to Powdersville Varsity Boys Basketball on their 54-50 victory over Seneca at home on Friday, January 11, 2019.
Seneca was leading by five at the end of the first quarter when junior Jay Adams put up a buzzer beater from the opposite three-point line — three quarters of the length of the court — and SWISH! cut the margin to two. Patriot fans went wild! By the half, Patriots had tied the score 22-22. Powdersville led by three, 33-30, going into the fourth quarter. Seneca led by five, 41-36, with 5:22 remaining in the game. By the 1:48 mark, Patriots had tied the score again 48-48. Junior Draylan Burton drove thru heavy traffic to put in a layup with :27 remaining to take the lead 52-50. From there, Bobcats took possession and got off several shots. With two seconds remaining, Seneca missed the front end of a 1-1 and fouled junior David Cordle. Cordle sank both free throws for the 54-50 region victory. Wow! Great game, Patriots!!
Burton was high scorer of the night with 22 points, and Cordle added 14. Powdersville (7-8 overall, 2-1 in the region) travels to WestOak on Tuesday, January 15, at 7:30 pm. Keep up the great work, Patriots! #MakingHistoryEverySeason #GoPatriots!
