Powdersville Varsity Boys Soccer fell 3-1 to Crescent in a tie-breaker game at Pendleton on Friday, April 26, 2019. Patriots finished regular season in fourth place in Region 1-AAA and advance to playoffs.
Defense prevailed for both teams in the first half. Eight minutes into the second half, senior John Mohrmann drilled a kick that bounced off Crescent’s goal keeper. Before the keeper could regain his balance, Mohrmann blasted the rebound into an open net and put the Patriots up 1-0. In the last 10 minutes of the game, Crescent scored three times. First on a breakaway, then on a free kick inside the 18, and finally in the last 30 seconds on an unbelievable free kick from 40 yards. Unlucky night for the Patriots!
